How Does the Online Idea Party Work?

You have a dream or a wish, and an obstacle to getting there. (If you don’t think you know your wish, work through my kick-starter and read this post. To learn why you must put logic aside to find your dream, read the following.)

The online Idea Party is here to help you – and the other fellow party goers – with your wishes and obstacles.

Voices from Success Teams and Idea Parties:

Having a team to report to and hearing what everybody did each week is very exciting. It’s kept me moving all year. In the past I made some good starts on my own, but found, every time, when the energy ran out, I ran out. Now it doesn’t run out.

I would do a painting a year, a sketch a year. If it was only me I know I would never do it. Having to tell you makes all the difference. It’s crazy why I didn’t do this years ago, it’s so easy all of a sudden.

  1. My wish is to find a natural way to dissolve uterine fibroids.

Obstacle: I have tried herbs, energy healing, and vitamins and I still need help. Anyone?

    • Have you tried a low carb or ketogenic diet? Several years ago I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids, some as large as a quarter. I went on a low carb diet and a year later the fibroids were gone. Although my doctor did not prescribe the diet she was not surprised at the results.

Google Dr. Eric Westman Duke University Hospital (white coat video) for true information on a ketogenic diet. I eat this way now.

For low carb, I used the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet by Dr’s Richard and Rachael Heller. I used this diet when dissolving the fibroids.

Asking your doctor is okay but I suggest you do your own research.
      Good Luck! Dar

  2. I had this idea back in 2004 and a friend was more upset that she was a part of a group email than seeing the beauty of the idea.

I am happy to be a part of this community.

  3. Hallo everybody.
First of all I’d like to thank Barbara. After having read her book I dared to fullfill my childish dream (I wanted to be a painter). I decided to begin with the illustrating and sketching. Since my childhood I was drawing fasion illustrations without knowing it. I wanted to take an online course of fasion illustrating. The obstacle was the price. But one of my familiar girl had this course and she shared with me! Now I have another obstacle. I don’t have required materials for sketching and drawing, such as Copic Sketch markers and brush-pens. I can order it per internet of course, though it is too expensive for me now. Of course I’ll earn money, just it will take more time. Maybe somebody wanted to sketch and then changed their mind, and now they don’t need these markers and can gave them those, who really needs them 🙂

  4. I want to be a philanthropic Rockstar.
    My obstacles are as follows:
I don’t have a record or distribution deal with a record company.
I don’t have enough money to make a decent recording of one song let alone an entire album.

  5. My wish: I want to be a signed recording artist and to write songs, perform, and make records for a living.

My obstacleS: I got started late (late 20’s) and missed the usual window to get signed. I don’t have weird gimmick or strange background story, and I’n not a hot girl, so it’s very hard to get attention online as a normal white male who just writes good pop songs. I used to play in bands, but now I’m on my own. I’ve released two full albums and two singles (available on iTunes, et al), and I’m currently working on both my third and fourth album.

I need concrete help and connections, not trite, non-helpful advice, like “just put yourself out there” or “get on YouTube” from people who know nothing about the music business. If you’re about to write something like that, stop typing.

    Thanks in advance.

    • Yes being in a similar situation I understand. It is not easy and the business is very much about who you know, often little to do with talent. Concrete ideas, contacts is what is needed. And that I can’t help’you with. Wish us luck, or rather a few contacts.

  6. Dear all

I’m planning to do some practical work at a flower shop near my home. But the owner would need someone to help out on days where I’m fully booked with teaching (also my dream job which pays my bills). She needs someone for full days, I only want to work half days or on Saturdays.

    Thanks for your ideas!

    All the best

    Christina

  7. I am a jazz singer and performance artist. I also do private teaching, in order to make very frayed ends meet. Thus has bern a decades long struggle. If nothing else I keep trying, but I am tired of the fruitless strughle. I am tiredofnotbeing able to seemy family because I can’t afford to by the ticket vack to the US. I am tired of not being abke to buy clothes, bras, underwear, shoes etc. I am tired of a life without holidayd and a day without worruing if I will be anke to oay my rent. I want to be able to go to my mailbox, answer the door, etc even enail without being afraid of the message.
I just want to song, to perform. That is what I love most, what nourishes me.
I would like more concerts, anywhere in the world.
My obstacle has always been me I think. A deep seated fear. There was a time when I would telephone a club (venue, whatever), and soon as someone answered I would promptly hang, not being even anle to say my name. I past that madness – not by much, but past it. Now I just want to perform, to perform. A tour in the USA would e eonderful, then I could visit my family, embracing 2 burds with one stone.
I dream to live, to be comfortable in my home, to have a home even. But that first dream is the key I think, that will uncage other dreams

    • Hi Gwen,
from what I understand you like to preform and sing and that is what you want to do.
First of all Congratulations! You are doing it. You are brave and tough too.
being an artist is not easy.
Your obstacle is: your lack of income and breakthrough in your profession.
my idea is exposure on youtube.
      You get to perform
      Have guests on
      have more clients
and exposure to people that can invite you or perform with.
dont forget isolation is a dream killer.

      • Yes I have thought about youtube but just have not together to be persistent and do it regularly. Priceastamation coupled with depression fuelwdby too many dead ends blocked that path. Yes I will try again, but try to be positive andnot qait fot itnit to work. Thanks. Who knows maube someone will motice it and offer a gig or two. (Or maybe even 3)

    • How about applying as a jazz singer for cruise ships? Cruise ships have people performing everyday all over their ships. I don’t know where you live, but ones that I know definitely higher singers full time could be Carnival cruise lines and Royal Caribbean.

      • Thanks for the suggestion. Of course I know about cruise ships but have never taken the initiative to do it. Procrastination and. Bit of fear I guess, fear of refusal. But also I would have to radically alter my style to sing on cruise ships. The question is do I want to get closer to the mountain -my goal, my vision of my music – or do I stand still or even go backwards instead of pursuing my art as I see it. Do I sell my artistic soul? Thanks.

  8. I want to hang out with Barbara. My obstacle is these darned membership windows! I just learned about her (where have I been?) and am reading and watching and I want to be INVOLVED. So happy to be here, but do I really need to wait until January? (sniff, sniff)

    • Lisa, while you’re waiting for January, why not sign up for Barbara’s marvelous daily emails, her Survival Guide for Dreamers. It’s under Courses in the menu on the Idea Party page.

  9. Hi everybody 🙂

I’m an artist building my business and looking for people who might appreciate my work.

I make grandscales, between 10 and 80 sqm of abstract painting, mostly in red and blue hues.
They are doors to an inner space where you can recharge your batteries and reconnect to yourself.–> http://www.iamova.com

    my vision:
I imagine that people encounter my paintings, f.e. when they go to work on when they enter a personal space. and that they feel uplifted and energized, ready for new challenges.

    My wish:
I want to take this to the next level and find companies and collectors who connect with me and my values and who like to buy my work.

    My obstacle:
I have never done anything like this and don’t know how to find these people and companies. I am willing to ship worldwide and travel worldwide also.

Your suggestion would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

    Love and color,
    Helena

    • Wow, that painting/video in the link is so cool! I can imagine feeling more energized by that! Could you maybe see if you can find a gallery that you like, that understands your project and connect with them to find someone to work with you, an agent or an event-organizer of some sort?
