What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. In plain English, your web browser sends info on where you are connected to the internet (a bunch of numbers called your IP address) and some basic information on which type of browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.) and which version of it you are using.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. This might be an image you uploaded to the Gravatar website (in which case they’ll be able to match this hash to your actual email address in their own database) or one of their wonderful geometric designs (in which case, all they get from us is a bunch of letters and numbers).

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

At this time, the only way you can upload images is to request webmaster@barbarasclub.com to add them for you (rarely permitted), but the advice also applies if you add them to your Google, Dropbox or Instagram account and link to them in your comment.

Memberships

We use Digital Access Pass software to handle all of our membership services. We do not share any of your information with them. When you make a purchase or sign up for a free teleclass or download, we collect and store:

  • Your first name
  • Your last name
  • Your email address
  • Your password (encrypted, meaning it can not be read or accessed by anyone)
  • Your IP address
  • Purchase information: We collect your purchase date, amount paid, coupons used and most recent login dates and times. We do NOT store any of your financial information. All your payment information is handled by PayPal.com and Stripe.com. Any payment information you enter on the PayPal site or the Stripe site is encrypted and handled by them.
  • You can access, change or remove your personal information on your Profile page at any time. Please note when changing your name or email address on this page, you should also use the link on the bottom of any emails we send you to change them there, too. We will delete your account upon your request, when you contact us at webmaster@barbarasclub.com.

At any time, you may request your information to be exported and sent to you for review, and we promptly honor any requests by you to have your account deleted and forgotten. After this, you’ll not be able to login to our website and access your products or services.

Contact forms
