  1. Hi everyone,
    I am a mom of 3 and I have so much I want to do. So much so that I suspect I have ADD! I even suspect that 2 of my children also have ADD. My insurance doesn’t cover ADD diagnosis or treatment and I don’t want pharmaceutical drugs anyway. I have heard of Dr. Daniel Amen’s work and even read one of his books. He has a personalized approach which includes a brain scan. The treatment is about $3000 (last time I checked last year). He has a satellite office close enough to my home in Oakland, CA. I would like to get a diagnoses and if needed, treatment for ADD.

    • Nothing wrong with a brain scan, but you might be able to figure out things about your brain without having to pay for the scan, which would be a big expense. Kind of like something in my field, “soil testing” which is possible and not really expensive, but it is also possible to tell things about the soil from just making observations about texture, location, color, how it reacts with water, what’s growing in it, etc. All free. Same with ADD, you might be able to figure out a workable plan for much less cost. I’d start with researching at the library. Dr. Amen has a lot of books on his methods, so maybe see about visiting the clinic and speaking with him on an initial visit and seeing how you feel. If it were me, I’d maybe just seek a group of similar parents who maybe wanted to work through one of his self help books together or talk to my school counselor to see if there might be some groups near you already formed.

      As far as I understand ADHD diagnosis is not “all or nothing”, “yes or no” situation. We might talk in culture as if you “have it or you don’t” but in reality it is not this way. It may be possible to have a few mild symptoms in some areas or to experience more wide-ranging symptoms that have greater and more problematic intensity.

      Coming from life experience (rather than education or research) I personally suspect that some *environments* work to train a person’s mind into some very bad or very unhelpful habits, and that such a situation may not actually be ADHD per se but instead some detrimental training of the mind (which produces symptoms similar to ADHD). Please again I will state this is strictly a personal guess.

      There are some FREE assessments for ADHD where you voluntarily fill out a questionnaire and can get a score. Maybe you could move forward a little by exploring and qualifying the problem further by completing some free assessment questionnaires.

    • Does it have to be a “penthouse”?
      Can’t it just be a pretty, custom-designed house or a house that’s staged for sale? Does it have to be the same house every month?
      I know someone with a nice house in your area, but it’s not a penthouse. Knowing them I think their house would have a view. But, I’m not sure if they’re “like-minded” to your ideas because I’m not sure if they’re into that sort of thing you describe. So because of that, I’m not sure if they would let you use their house for free.

        My impetus is to have viewers ‘feel’ an energy of higher vibration.

        I video from my condo which is minimalist so it’s clear and open and very good however in my Vision..I’m bringing people up above their current vibration and this is how I picture it.

  3. (You’ll need to return here, because I’m not going to start many new threads as I get answers.)
    I’m attempting to design my way through with multiple answers & tech solutions – but I’m having trouble tailoring “specialist” answers to accommodate my soooooo many “Sybil” scanner interests. I need some suggestions designing a new possible expression of my loves – (short answers are great, but I’m looking for a comprehensive, strategic design involving a volunteer with which I could return the favor.)
    Are you that person with strategy suggestions for our mutual benefit?
    I need to solve my tendency to get going on a project and invest much time in writing or making a website from what I have to offer. Then my project stops for a long time and doesn’t get finished because of one or two ‘snags’. If I have a Barbara Sher buddy…? Maybe we can combine our projects…?
    Barbara has in the past, suggested the strategy of involving other people as my solution, so I figured…why not ask here?
    I have (already written) more than a few books that haven’t gotten into either e-book or hard copy print. Meanwhile, I’ve lost my faith in books – I’ve started thinking that books are not much more than a big business card. Real effects happen for people when they take the form of something like a supportive social network – such as here on Hanging Out.
    So I’ve found what I think is a format for an answer…but need design help. Not the sort of help that chooses colors, etc. Structural help of how to organize many interests with this answer – that kind of help.
    Here’s the possible tech answer: I’ve found a site that, for the price of web hosting, you get your own social networking site. It comes with a phone app, donation currency and the ability to broadcast with corresponding chats – all with encrypted security from the rest of the Internet and encrypted group chats. As Barbara’s board forum used to be, you only need a user “handle” and a password to sign up, not your phone number or real name.
    For instance, it would be a perfect place to do ongoing “buddy” support for determining your daily plans to get things done, (which would be a privacy & burglary risk to post on the larger Internet, so encryption would fulfill a need!)
    Another part of this possible solution, there’s also a store feature for more $ if I eventually want to sell stuff too…if the site eventually became more than a “hobby.” Or maybe I should invest on the front end and make the store part happen from the beginning?

    Anyway, let me know if you’re able to think about how to design for multiple interests and this sort of thing sounds interesting to your purposes too. I’d like it if we could be helping each other as we work these possibilities out.

    I’m probably going to try out some baby step version of the above solution, (there’s a two month free offer to help with design process.)

        Well, it’s like web hosting, but your site is a spin-off of their “parent” site. But they allow you to make as many web pages as you like.
        If you have https://mywebsite.com then that wouldn’t be the address for your membership that you’d have on this social vision site. Instead it would be: https://mywebsite.brax.me
        So if you already have your own domain name, you’d need another “real” web hosting service to keep that domain name and refer people from your current public domain name that you already use to the “membership” site I’m describing.

        OK, so for that, it’s $99. dollars a year, which is the level that doesn’t include a store. I think the store upgrade is an additional $80.

        There’s a code that allows about two months free to help us understand the design process and get your site ready before you invite new members.

  9. Hi Maureen Joy,

    It sounds to me that a great entry point would be to connect with producers of Podcasts related to grief. Some of them are searching for guests with powerful messages. My inclination is that once you have some good solid interviews on podcasts, radio producers may find you. I believe some of the podcasts have larger audiences than radio. Podcasts also have the advantage that they do not go away; interviews are archived and saved for people to find when they are needed.
