  1. The takeaway I get from this chapter is that realization that I DO have time to accomplish all I want to do. For example, I give myself a hard time not knowing Spanish after a decade of saying I should. But I am only 27. I could be fluent by 30 if I set my mind and efforts into it. Everyday I feel pressured (by myself) to be perfect and anything less isn’t acceptable. I’m my most difficult critic, yet nobody is putting pressure on me besides myself. So learning to take ONE step at a time, and not beating myself up over not accomplishing everything at once. Breaking it down, taking deep breaths. I always think I have to do something immediately once I think of it like Barbara mentions, but I DON’T and that is okay! Hard lesson to learn, I hope it sticks!

  2. I think the main thing I learned from chapter 3 is to relax. Time will pass no matter what we are doing and we may as well do things that bring us joy (and hopefully money!) I’m still pretty nervous about next steps, but I have a very full calendar and list of things I’d like to dive into.
The other thing I learned is that I love to learn! So many of my goals are about learning, and nobody can really stop me from doing that, right?

  3. The most important thing I’ve learned from this chapter is the antidote to not feeling entitled, which is ‘Doing what you love isn’t a privilege; it’s an obligation’. This really links in with my strong sense of obligation and also gives me a sense of freedom. It’s not only ok to do what I love; it’s also a useful, good, honourable thing. So then I should just do it! I also love the following: ‘When you’re involved in doing what you love, the path will always show itself’. I have experienced this quite a few times in the past, but it hasn’t happened for a while. It was nice to be reminded of it and it was also nice to see it expressed so clearly.

  4. learned is a strong word
    i’m thinking

maybe feeling better about life as it is facilitates a life that feels better
maybe feeling better about life as it is facilitates crossing items off the impossible list
maybe an unfinished impossible list doesn’t preclude a life that feels better
maybe an unfinished impossible list pairs with a life that feels better

    • Nate,
The version that speaks to you and empowers you, the most sounds like the best version. I call what you’ve done here building a bridge, because sometimes I can’t just leap to where I want to get to but I have to build a bridge!
