HI there. The password reset isn’t working for me. I’ve done it twice and each time checked my email account, but am not seeing it (and yes, I have looked in the “Junk” or spam folder, and logged out of my email and then logged back in after several minutes). What do you suggest? Thx.
Lisa, I found a fix for our password lookup problem after sending yours to you. I am told lookup emails should now reach you. Would you mind requesting yours again? It won’t reset it. It will just tell you what it is.
You’ll need to log out if you’re already logged in. The Member Profile page (the link’s in the menu bar on every page) is a good place to log out, request the password, and log back in again.
Thanks!
It’s always such a help to re-read Barbara’s books, so I’m so glad to be part of this book club. I admit I got a little disoriented with the technology, never certain if i am on the comments page for my small group or am in some other area–BUT we will bet used to this! and what a great way to start connecting and forming WC groups. Have always tried to form them–handed out books to friends, put up flyers, searched for team leaders–but it hasn’t been fruitful. I’m sure this technology will make a difference.
Khimba Lee, let’s see if we can help you (and a lot of other folks) find your way around better. This page says Login in the title, so it is the page where everyone (in Book Club, Hanging Out, etc.) gets sent if they are not currently logged in when they click on a link in an email.
Logins are specific to a particular computer and browser, and they are valid either until the browser window is closed or for two weeks if you check off “Remember me for two weeks.” But this only applies to one particular browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, Firefox) on the computer where you check it.
If you prefer not to get sent here from a link, you can log in (and see easily if you are already logged in) on the Member Profile page. It’s in the menu bar on every Barbara’s Club page. If there is a Logout button instead of a login form, you are logged in.
At the bottom of this page (not counting the comments), you will find links to all the exercises. You can also switch back to your mail and click on any links in it assured that they will take you to the intended page now.
Patty, first, thanks, and just being part of the book club is so good for me, and i’m sorry there is so much technical stuff going on–so, it is still either not working? or confusing for me–when i click on e-mails from the book club, i got to the page i posted on last time. I just followed your directions, but i don’t think i got any further–this is just information! i am definitely not upset about this–but i currently don’t receive posts from other members in my small group, and when i click on the week announcements from Barbara, i go to the general page i last used and when i go to the member profile i see the exercises, for the large group also for small group 5? i think that’s right–but when i click on them i don’t see other people’s comments, maybe i didn’t go back far enough–it would be most helpful if our week assignments came from our small group and when i clicked on that i went to the small group–however! this is just info and if you are dealing with lots of things, please feel free to go deal with other problems, this is just a glitch for me.
Hi, Khimba-
I’m Lisa, and am in group 5 with you. I understand your technology woes, because I often suffer from them. Until these posts about them, I’ve not seen anything from you. Please respond to this post if you get it–then we’ll know if you’re on line. I have to say that when I look at this page, it doesn’t seem to be hooked in to our assignments. Patty???
Hi Lisa, saw this, and the link took me here, seems good!
Lisa, you are correct. This is the public page for logging in, not a Group 5 page, where your discussion is private.
I sent Khimba an email today with a bunch of links to the weekly assignments pages, so she can find the links to the exercise pages. I hope she received it.
Hi Patty,
I haven’t gotten any emails in a couple of weeks and am also unable to access the posts from Week Five, Exercises 1-3, despite having posted myself. It’s puzzling because I’ve followed the same procedure each week, upon receipt of the assignment, and subscribed to all comments. But hey, maybe it’s a good thing that I’m out of the loop, as I’m also gripped by embarrassment at having bared so much in those last posts.
I’ve sent you an email, Amy.
And your embarrassment is unwarranted.
Patty,
I am hanging out with Barbara year 2 and I tried to join the book club on the I COULD DO ANYTHING book but I missed the deadline by a few days.. I decided to read the book and do the exercises and I am now on Chapter 12. I am reading on this page, a lot of challenges and people trying to communicate. One thing I like about what I am reading below is that it is happening near real time. Probably due to the limited time frame. The plus about year 2 of Hanging out is the chances to communicate with Barbara, including most importantly the getting together phone calls which I am so looking forward to. The minus is the lack of current comments from anyone in the same timeframe that I read Barbara’s Monday and Thursday posts.
I sometimes feel a little lost in a maze of where do you go to find out what’s going on. Most of the time I just stumble around till I find things. In any case, I wonder if there is any way I could still join the book club. Sort of like auditing the class and maybe paying in advance for the next book club event. Like early enrollment. In any case, I will understand if you don’t see a way to make this happen. I am sure you are busy just keeping up with 2 groups and putting out fires and working the bugs out. I will be better prepared next time to join one of your book clubs. It may even encourage me to join one of your success teams. Something I haven’t been motivated to do. Hanging out with Barbara is a lot just in itself. So I will look for a reply but feel free not to because I will understand how busy you are.
Jim
Jim, I cannot let any more people into this first Book Club, but I can help you find other Hanging Out members. There is a large-ish group that is exactly nine weeks behind you. If you look at the URLs of your current messages and subtract 9 from the week number in them, you might bump into some of them. But don’t spoil any surprises for them, okay? There are also a good number of people between you and them, but the larger groups are usually chattier.
Hi Brenda. thanks for your comments.
It took me a long time to realise what was going on and it was really only after joining a support group about 10 years ago. We would watch an hour long video presentation from a PBS TV series on the family by Dr John Bradshaw. I was so inspired by him I decided to become a family therapist and travelled to California to do my prac at the Centre For Creative Growth. I did get to do a workshop with John who was great. The other person I consider with such respect is Barbara. Thats why Im re-reading and re-doing the exercises in this book club. I’ve learned it’s an on going task to practice and remember that my needs are also important and need attending to. I feel so much better now about saying no than I ever have.
I hope you’re enjoying the bookclub as much as I am.
Kind regards, Maggie:-)
Kind regards
Not sure this went through before – my computer crashed mid “enter”
Is there anyone else out there who would like to “buddy” up?
I’m struggling to do these exercises on my own.
Actually, I REALLY liked Barbara’s idea about a group meeting on Skype or phone conference – anyone?
Pat, I love that you’re looking for buddies! I’m not sure many will see your request here on the Login page, but most members are subscribed to their group’s main page and will get an email notice if you post there. After you log in, go to the Member Profile (in the menu bar on each page) and scroll down to the last link on the page, with “(Agenda)” in it. That’s your group’s main page, and the best way to reach your fellow group members.
My suggestion is that you grab yourself a free teleconferencing account from freeconferencing.com and put the phone number, access code, date, and time of your proposed call(s) right in your announcement. Then phone in at the designated time and see who shows up. Much easier and more effective!
It does take a bit to become familiar enough with the freeconferencing.com interface…it’s taken me a couple of times messing around with it to get up to speed.
As it happens, I’m house sitting this month with Internet access! So until the end of June, I’d be happy to be the “techie,” if Pat will do the talking. By then Pat should know what she’s doing and be able to handle it.
Sorry I’ve been out of touch. The comments are all amazing…I will be back later today to comment and contribute more. This has been a very challenging week on these exercises! This is really stirring up a lot of questions and exploration. Best wishes to all.
Glad to have you back, Katie.
Hi patti
Please help
Am struggling to login.
Keep tapping lost password but nothing happens. I paid full amount up front so don’t think that is the issue.
Have been working thru exercises and the book.
Someone spilt tea on my laptop so that made it more difficult. Resistance?!
Am enjoying course and set time aside today to post and catch. And now can’t get in !
Sending you an email, Stephanie.
I need to change the email and password for my login to the I Could Do Anything book club. I have not been receiving weekly messages or exercises. How do I do this?
To change your login information, click on Member Profile in the menu bar on any page. To change the address your comments subscriptions get sent to, change the email address you enter as you leave a comment. (It’s not tied to your login address, but it is remembered from session to session.) To change the email address on previous comment subscriptions, send a request to webmaster@barbarasclub.com. To change the address on your weekly assignment emails, use the link on the bottom or send a request to webmaster@barbarasclub.com.
HELP!!! I can no longer access anyone in my Groups comments. All I see is a comment from Kim on june 9th regarding being locked out of messages. then I clicked on “OLDER COMMENTS” and the comments start on June 3rd. I previously saw comments in that 6 day period.
I also sent u an inquiry about what group I am in…I think I am still in 2…and U answered and I wrote back. Just went to check out ur response and can’t find that either.
I saved the assignments for week so I have the links but when I click on them I see no comments about the assignments. Just stuff about the site glitches. I have read up through all of Chapter 3and trying to catch up.
Your comment is on the login page. Log in and go to the Member Profile page. If you are not taken there automatically, there is a link in the menu bar on every page. Scroll down to the Book Club link list and select the one that includes “Agenda” in it. If you are enrolled in more than one group, choose the one with the highest number in it.
Hi, I can’t see the question pages anymore. I’ve tried clicking on the links from emails for week 2 and 3, and always end up on this landing page. The most recent comment is dated June 3. Even the Help page takes me here! Any suggestions? Thank you.
