35.9 Continue Using FAQs to Test Exercises, Get Stories to Tell

Not much more I can say about the value of doing FAQs. Level 1: just throw out a provocative statement to the audience and ask for questions. Level 2: talk for 5 minutes about your topic and ask the audience to pretend they are journalists interviewing you. Level 3: talk for 20 minutes and include an exercise or two plus time for questions at the end. Each level gets you different types of material.

Level 3 is best for stories to tell in your book, helping those doing your exercises to make sense of their answers. Levels 1 and 2 are more likely to help you find the words to explain things more clearly.

In the comments, tell us if you did or didn’t do an FAQ this week.

That’s all for this week. Next week’s assignments will arrive on Monday.
