Be Weird, Make Money
(click on the title to listen or drag it onto your desktop or iTunes to download a copy)

A micro-workshop about how to map what makes you unique onto different business paths. I will even show you how you can take one idea and create 7 different businesses (or more)!

Speaker: Kimberly Stewart, business idea consultant, author, standard nerd

Kimberly StewartIn 2003, as she was getting a degree double majoring in visual art and psychology, Kimberly discovered Barbara Sher and became a Registered Success Teams leader, and to date has run over 13 teams. This lead her to the work of Valerie Young and Barbara Winter and she further refined her work with people by becoming a Profit From Your Passions® Consultant in 2009. After trying to fit in with all the other life coaches (and doing a not-so-hot job of it) Stewart took the leap and taught a class followed by writing a book about how to have a Halloween-based small business called, “Be Weird, Make Money: Halloween”, published in 2014. Having gotten a taste of catering to strange and unusual people like herself she decided to stop playing Dungeons and Dragons long enough to launch “Be Weird, Make Money,” a practice in which she does small business idea consultations for people looking to find a place to fit in in their working life.

Kimberly Stewart has a Be Weird, Make Money Workshop, 6 Thursdays starting November 3, 2016, 6:00 p.m. MST, (approximately 90 mins each session) $497. Login instructions will be emailed to you upon registration. There will be recordings each week in case you can’t make it to the live teleclass. There will also be three one-on-one sessions with her to help you fine-tune your ideas. Register here: www.beweirdmakemoney.com/upcoming-events

What Everyone Else Gets Wrong About Resistance and Why You Need to Know What’s Really Going On
(click on the title to listen or drag it onto your desktop or iTunes to download a copy)

Resistance! It’s what stops you in your tracks as soon as you begin to go after what you want or do what you love. It tries to convince you you’re too busy. Or lazy. Or bored. Or maybe you don’t really want it badly enough. Or you have more important things to attend to. And who would listen to you, anyway?

We all try to fight resistance to the ground, to use our will power, to be strong, but I’m an real expert at dealing with resistance and I know better. You can’t fight it. That will just backfire.

But I can show you what does work because I have learned what will keep resistance out of your way. (It has nothing to do with changing the way you think.) Once you know what’s really going on, you’ll be able to do what you love and go after what you want. Remember, you owe your gifts to the rest of us. I’d like to help you pay that happy debt.

And here’s the bonus recording of an earlier Resistance Workshop that I promised you.

Speaker: Barbara Sher, best-selling author of I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was, Wishcraft, Live the Life You Love, It’s Only Too Late If You Don’t Start Now and Refuse to Choose

(click on the title to listen or drag it onto your desktop or iTunes to download a copy)

This workshop will redefine your understanding of what shyness is, and what it isn’t. You will be surprised to learn that shyness is not part of your DNA or a natural expression of who you are. Janice asserts that no one is born shy. She teaches you that shyness is actually a learned behavior that can easily be overcome when you have the right techniques.

Do you know why introverts are so hard to talk to in social situations? Janice has amazing insights into the true characteristics of introverts and extroverts. In addition to overcoming shyness, she will teach you how to pinpoint whether or not you are an introvert or extrovert and how to create harmonious relationships with your opposite.

Careering Toward Authenticity
(click on the title to listen or drag it onto your desktop or iTunes to download a copy)

Previewing material from her forthcoming book, Careering Toward Authenticity: Authentic and Brave Career Development for PhDs, career coach, professor and musician (a.k.a. Plate-Spinning Scanner) Karen M. Cardozo will explain why the world is becoming more unpredictable by the second. Rather than scare you, this news should FREE you to become your most authentic self, because following your instincts and passions is the strategy most likely to pay off in a creative, entrepreneurial, and uncertain era when all the rules are changing. Instead of a lifeless strategic plan, Dr. Cardozo recommends authentic and brave career development (ABCD)—in which you will never have to choose “a” career, but only decide on your best NEXT step. A series of authentic steps leads to meaningful work in a satisfying life. What’s YOUR best next step? Join Dr. Cardozo on Sept 10th and find out!

Speaker: Karen M. Cardozo, PhD, career coach, musician, and professor

Karen M. CardozoKaren Cardozo has been in higher education for over two decades, at eight different institutions (public and private, large and small, coed and single-sex) in roles ranging from career counselor to dean to professor. The unpredictability she has witnessed on her own path and in the lives of countless others has inspired her new book, Careering Toward Authenticity: Authentic and Brave Career Development for PhDs (Leap Here Publishing, 2016). In this timely guide, she turns the traditional idea of “career planning” on its head, explaining why these rapidly changing times call for a more authentic, intuitive and situationally responsive approach. Currently, she is a professor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Western Massachusetts, where she teaches such courses as The World of Work and Leading Women (a blend of leadership and women’s studies). She also has a private consulting practice (www.leap-here.com) and (literally) rocks, performing regularly as a singer-songwriter with her indie band Show of Cards (www.showofcards.com).

Career Change for Academics: Use the Skills You Already Have!!
(click on the title to listen or drag it onto your desktop or iTunes to download a copy)

As long as you’ve been in grad school, you’ve been trained to be a researcher – no matter the discipline, humanities to “hard” sciences. This puts you in a better place to direct your own career change than any other job seeker, because you can now use those same skills to explore your options beyond traditional academics that could be a perfect fit for you.

And, you know how to work and learn on your own — with as well as without deadlines. This is no more than another research project — and you already know how to do that!

This mini-mini webinar will begin with basics and outline the two kinds of Career Exploration you’ll have to do. Best of all, you’ll actually get started on the basics today, in this webinar!

Basics begin with YOU, so all you’ll need right now is paper and pencil!

Ready??

Speaker: Dr. Kate Duttro, career coach to “recovering” academics

Kate DuttroGrowing up on a farm, I always felt a little out of step with friends and relatives, but when I first walked into the library at Penn State as an undergrad, I felt like I had “come home.” I earned a doctorate of education in anthropology, worked a few contract archaeology gigs, started a sheep farm and finally landed a one-year contract as an assistant professor of anthropology. After forty-some applications for the next academic position (two replies), I gave it up and went back to another series of temporary career-confounding jobs at the university where I’d finished my doctorate. Then the English department hired me to teach writing classes. I loved it, but it was a lot of work for about the same pay I had earned as a grad student.

And then my husband was seriously injured in an industrial accident, so I began doing writing gigs from home (300+ publications and about that much for-hire writing), still working awfully hard for a pittance. When we moved across country, I went to the nearest university to retool.

Ten years later, and as many more career and coaching certificates, training programs and professional conferences as I could cram into my life, I have worked with students of all kinds and at all levels at the University of Washington, and my heart is still with academics, many of whom who aren’t entirely sure they want the traditional academic’s career (which is where I was nearly 30 years ago).

I now have the tools that I so sorely needed then, to help students and professionals today (whether still in school or in jobs they’re not sure they want) to explore their own strengths and inclinations, to get more information about other career options, and to actively pursue the kinds of work that fit them best, rather than letting circumstance have its way with them so entirely (as I did at various times).

When I retired from the UW, I continued in career work, leading more Career Development Facilitator classes, working in private practice with recovering academics, writing about career topics and continuing to show academics how to articulate their Dependable Strengths. It has been a richly rewarding part of my career and I’m delighted to be able to continue working in the field, and passing along the practical parts of my experience.

While credentials are important (I’m the daughter of a diabetic Ph.D. whose career was focused on diabetes research and care), they are not everything: I have the background and experience with intensive blood sugar and health management methods, and the desire to share my experience and understanding.

Joyful Change: Adding In and Fading Away
(click on the title to listen or drag it onto your desktop or iTunes to download a copy)

Experience this technique of change without pain. Its key is ease and gentleness with yourself, and is very empowering. The science of brain plasticity is showing us how we can create new connections and let go of old ones, by awareness. This is a great session to attend with a friend, then afterwards you can continue enjoying the benefits of mutual support with this method. Please recall a pattern or two that frustrates you, that you don’t want in your life anymore, and make sure you bring something to write with.

Speaker: Regina Orchard, cultivator of dreams, author of “CONNECTIONS – toolbox for living in an energetic field of love”

Regina OrchardRegina’s early experience of academic science felt an insufficient explanation of the fullness of life. This led her to years spent honing the gentle crafts of clowning, natural health and healing for our land as well as people, and a discovery of self-growth as a universal need and purpose for all beings.

She has combined eclectic qualifications in Computer programming, Sustainability, Online training, Wellness, Massage and Arts Therapy with a depth of life experience and deep reflection, and she has a message that distills old knowledge and new into a powerful and delicious brew.

We’d love you to join us – Regina will be facilitating a Monthly Meetup, Using the Connections tools

How to Be a Life Changing Author and Speaker by Next September
(click on the title to listen or drag it onto your desktop or iTunes to download a copy)

We’ll be repeating this telesummit on September 9, 2017 with a new group of people who want to write books that change lives and earn good money by speaking about things that matter. If you’ve got ten hours a week available, you could be one of them.

Let me teach you all my shortcuts to getting started in writing and speaking about a topic dear to your heart. It’s a great career!

During this session, I and my WriteSpeak coach Patty will answer all your questions about my year-long WriteSpeak program, which begins again next month. Registration opens right after this workshop ends.

Everyone who signs up for the Bronze, Silver or Gold package gets a free copy of Mahesh Grossman’s Write a Book Without Lifting a Finger. And three lucky people will snag the Gold package, which includes 3 recorded one-on-one coaching sessions by telephone with me, in addition to my 6-hour teleworkshop, the 48-week online course and 12 monthly group coaching sessions with Patty. They’ll go fast, so if you want to be one of the three, it’s best to ask your questions during this intro session and sign up right away.

Speakers: Barbara Sher, best-selling author of I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was, Wishcraft, Live the Life You Love, It’s Only Too Late If You Don’t Start Now and Refuse to Choose, with Patty Newbold, award-winning marriage blogger and Director, Sher Success Teams

Getting Unstuck
(click on the title to listen or drag it onto your desktop or iTunes to download a copy)

Reaching for your goals and dreams requires lots of effort and a few brick walls. This workshop encourages you to stop beating your head against that brick wall and get yourself up and moving again.

Speaker: Sharon McGann, educator: connecting people and ideas for a better world

Sharon McGannSharon McGann, B.Bus, M.Ed (Adult Ed) is an adult educator, facilitator and mentor who is fascinated with how people connect and collaborate to turn goals and dreams into reality. Her mission is to encourage more people to get moving towards their dreams. Her online community provides a playful space to learn and practice how to ‘Mess with your own Mind’ by shift limiting beliefs or feelings of unworthiness.

After management roles in the Air Force and in Financial Services, Sharon’s third career involves over a decade running her own Learning and Development consulting practice. She has worked with both the corporate and not-for-profit sectors and is especially interested in giving youth a good start in their working lives.
