Phone Help for the Telesummit

We want to hear from you throughout this celebration, especially during our workshops. To make this work, we need a great telephone connection. We want to hear you clearly. And we want the least possible background noise from each caller, because there will be lots of us on the call.

Your Best Option: a Landline Phone or a Cell Phone with a Strong Signal

If you’re in the U.S. or Canada, there’s a good chance you have a calling plan that lets you call area code 425 (in the state of Washington) for free. Yay! Use it.

If Your Long Distance Carrier Asks You to Agree to Pay an Extra 1 Cent Per Minute After You Dial In

That is just US$3.60 for the entire event, but you can save the expense. Just text Call me to +1-425-436-6360 (the Telesummit phone number). Free Conference Call will call you back at no charge. When they do, enter our Access Code: 561566# and you will be connected.

Can’t text? Follow the directions below to log in with your computer and choose the “Call Me” option in step 3 to have Free Conference Call call the phone number you enter. When they do, enter our Access Code: 561566# and you are free to travel about with your phone in hand, instead of sitting at a computer screen.

If You Have a Phone But Not Unlimited Long Distance

Just text Call me to +1-425-436-6360 (our number). Free Conference Call will call you back with no long distance charge. When they do, enter our Access Code: 561566# and you will be connected. Or you can use an internet connection. Instructions are next.

Join Us Over the Internet

You can use your PC, laptop, tablet or smart phone browser to join us. Use your headphones or earbuds if at all possible. If you must use your speakers, please remember to mute your microphone to prevent any interference.

1. Go to freeconferencecall.com/wall/telesummit.
2. Click on the large, blue “Join Online Meeting” button and watch for a popup that invites you to open or download the FreeConferenceCall app.
3. Choose “Join With Computer Audio” or “Dial In or Get Called into the Meeting”, then press the blue “Continue” button.

   If you asked to Call In, follow the top set of steps on the screen. If you asked to Get Called In, enter your phone number, click on the “Call Me” button, and wait for a call to your phone. If you asked to Join With Computer Audio, leave (or turn) Video off and click on the blue “Join the Meeting” button.

Our speakers and MCs will be using audio only. There is no need for video.

How to Mute and Unmute Your Microphone

On a telephone, use the phone’s Mute button or dial *6. This will toggle between Muted and Unmuted, and you will hear a message to tell you which one is selected now.

On the computer app, the Mute button is in the lower left corner. Blue is unmuted (everyone can hear you and the noises around you). Red with a line through the microphone is muted (no one can hear you or the noises around you).

If You’re New to Teleconferencing

If you use a phone, dial 1-425-436-6360 or the phone number for your country.

Once the recorded message answers your call, dial our access code, 561566, and end by dialing # (called the pound or hash key).

Whichever method you choose for calling, if this is your first time trying it, you can call in anytime before the telesummit to test it. Once you’re connected, you’ll hear dreadful music, unless someone else happens to be testing at the same time. But the music will be your sign that you did everything just right, and you’re ready for the telesummit.

What to Do If No One’s on the Call During the Telesummit Hours

Every once in a while, someone’s call will get sent to some terrible dead end somewhere. If there’s no one else on the call, and you’re listening to the dreadful music, and our schedule says we should be up and running, hang up and call back in.

If there’s still no one else on the call, it’s possible we’ve had some huge problem with the call and our Master of Ceremonies has asked everyone to switch to our backup number, so reload this page or the Telesummit Home Page to find it. We will post it in very large type.

If there’s still no one else on the call, please check the date and time. Then send an email to webmaster@barbarasher.com, and we’ll do our best to help.

What to Do If You Get Cut Off from the Telesummit

Just call back in.

Please Mute Your Phone Before…

• Speaking to anyone else in the room with you
• Putting the call on speaker
• Running water
• Typing on your keyboard
• Turning on your microwave oven
• Entering a noisy location
• Driving

If your phone has no Mute button, dial *6. You can unmute yourself by dialing *6 again.

If we need to mute you from our end, you’ll hear a notice that we’re doing it. You can unmute when your connection is quiet again by dialing *6.
