Idea Party

How Does the Online Idea Party Work?

You have a dream or a wish, and an obstacle to getting there. (If you don’t think you know your wish, work through my kick-starter and read this post. To learn why you must put logic aside to find your dream, read the following.)

The online Idea Party is here to help you – and the other fellow party goers – with your wishes and obstacles.

Voices from Success Teams and Idea Parties:

Having a team to report to and hearing what everybody did each week is very exciting. It’s kept me moving all year. In the past I made some good starts on my own, but found, every time, when the energy ran out, I ran out. Now it doesn’t run out.

I would do a painting a year, a sketch a year. If it was only me I know I would never do it. Having to tell you makes all the difference. It’s crazy why I didn’t do this years ago, it’s so easy all of a sudden.

  1. I would like to go to Dubai. Hoe can i go there and have a little job that provides me with the costs of travel but also leaves me the time to explore Dubai?

  2. Hi, so here goes…I am 41, with degrees from Northwestern, Duke, and Harvard. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer, Fulbright Scholar, and I had a nice fellowship with the UN in Geneva. I spent much of my 30’s building a real estate portfolio without knowing what a mortgage was. I married late and am pregnant with my first child. Outwardly, people would be “impressed” with me. Inwardly, I feel like I’ve wasted my life because I didn’t have the courage to do what I really want to do since I was in college. The fact that I knew what I wanted to do and had amazing resources at my fingertips only makes me feel worse about myself. The dream is to start a school that ‘educates’. That is, a school that teaches what really matters in a meaningful life: perseverance, financial intelligence, creative problem solving, responsibility, negotiations, getting along with people, clear communication. I have a vision for a school that turns on its head the industrialization model upon which our current system is largely based. I envision a school that is experientially/project oriented, designed around the students’ respective natural interests and talents and multilingual. And, a school that treats teachers like honored professionals in the same way we treat (and pay) doctors. My obstacles: the biggest one (and the hardest, according to Barbara’s “How to Get What You Really Want”. As outrageous as it seems, I’m having trouble building a “success team.” I’ve emailed professors, friends, posted on boards. I’ve stopped short of posting on craigslist and only because I wouldn’t think anyone into education reform would ever look there. Those who do respond, gives me 15 minutes and holds their cards (contacts) very close to them for whatever reason. Each contact seems to fall flat or doesn’t go farther than one more contact. I know I can make things happen as long as I have partners who also share in this vision. I just can’t seem to find anyone who isn’t already overbooked and who understands my vision. I’m finally going after what I want to do because I want to encourage my own child(ren) to do the same and I’d feel like a hypocrite if I were not first a model.

  3. Hi LIza,
I live in Bristol, VA. I once saw Barbara while I was living in Florida. Ever since then, I have been following her. I think she is amazing. She wants to show us that no matter how old we are, we can still make a difference and do some great things.

  4. I am an actor in New York on an Artist Visa that expires June 2020, and I want to work on TV & Film here in America, but talent agents will not sign me because I have a Visa, and they want me to get a Green Card, which I can’t get as of right now because I need to have at least five years of work in America to even begin my case, and so far I’ve got four.

    • Hi Yarin, I am an artist and I am looking for an artist visa, do you have a lawyer you can recommend me? What kind of acting do you do? Do you have a portfolio?

    • Hi Susie, do you have Facebook? Where do you live? What are you passionate about? Hobbies?
